Veterinary Assistant Heather Pemberton has worked in the veterinary field for 17 years since leaving the human medical field to pursue her passion of working with animals. It was at this time that she first met Dr. Shane and has been working with/for her ever since. Her interests are dental health and animal behavior. She is certified in dental radiology as well as companion animal laser therapy. She is currently pursuing her Veterinary Technician License at Penn and Foster College. In her spare time, she enjoys working in her gardens, and relaxing by her koi pond with her pug, Tootsie, Labrador, Sookie, and cat Willow.

Veterinary Assistant Jessica Cooper joined the Staples Mill Team in November 2014, after previously working with/for Dr. Shane and Practice Manager Mike Shane for almost 10 years. She is certified in Companion Animal Laser Therapy and is currently pursuing her Veterinary Technician License at a local college. She has owned a variety of animals, but currently enjoys spending her free time with her herd of 4 dogs, Zoe (Dalmatian), Daisy (Lab), Noah(Maltese), and Mika (Cockapoo) and 3 cats Cali, Precious, and Tatum. When she is not working or taking care of her herd she enjoys spending time outdoors, hanging out with family, friends, learning new crafts from YouTube and Pinterest and is an active movie enthusiast!

Veterinary assistant, Anna Flis, joined the Staples Mill team in December 2015. After going to cosmetology school and working in the industry for over 5 years, Anna decided to make a career change. She worked at her first animal hospital a year ago and discovered that she had found her calling. From a young age, she has always had a love for animals.

In her free time, you will find her baking, sewing pet accessories, watching football (Go Panthers!), doing hair, or hiking with her husband and pit bull, Diesel.

"I'm so excited to have found a place that has a great staff and amazing doctors! Everyone genuinely loves their job and always make sure the pets are loved and cared for every step of the way. Stephanie first began working in the veterinary field in 2010 and has experience both as a receptionist and a veterinary assistant. She has possessed a love for animals her entire life. Stephanie met Dr. Shane in 2012 and was thrilled to join her and the Staples Mill family in 2015.

Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her family, pets and friends, watching Redskins football, browsing Pinterest and working on projects around her home. She has 4 pets: a Shetland Sheepdog (Rocky), a cat (Twiggy) and two Saint Bernards (Dakota and Dahlia).

Fear Free Certified Veterinary Assistant, Krystal Jenkins has worked in the veterinary field since 2008 and joined the Staples Mill Team in May of 2016. She always knew growing up on her family farm that she would enter the veterinary field. When she was 16 years old, she would volunteer many hours at a local Emergency Veterinary Clinic and before she graduated high school she became their youngest employee. Her love, compassion, and dedication only grew deeper for all animals since starting her career 9 years ago. Krystal is currently pursuing her Veterinary Technician License and looks forward to gaining other certifications within the veterinary field.

Receptionist Shelly Dalton has worked in the veterinary field since 2014 after leaving the massage therapy industry. While she still has a passion for massage, she is more interested in the holistic side of the veterinary world. She is pursuing her Veterinary Technician License in the fall of 2017 and is currently taking a course in small and large animal massage. Shelly is also certified in Stress Free and Fear Free handling of your pet. In her spare time, she enjoys crocheting, cooking, and yoga, as well as relaxing at home with her husband, their two dogs, Honey and Lola, and their cat, Emperor Kuzco.

"It is so wonderful to be a part of a team that is consistently growing while learning new things and adapting as a group. Not every day is a walk in the park, but seeing a patient leave happy and healthy – or at least on the mend - makes it all worth it."

Myesa has 12+ years of medical administrative experience into veterinary with 2+ years as an office coordinator at a veterinary emergency clinic. Myesa’s love and passion for all creatures stem from be raised with various animals; from horses, cows, pigs, rabbits, ducks and everything in between has given her a true respect for what nature has to offer. She is dedicated to the health and well-being yours and her own furry, prickly family. In her off time she enjoys gardening, crafting, swimming and spending time friends, family, her cat, Junior and hedgehog, Ralph.

Suzanne has been in the Veterinary Field since 1996, starting out in a mixed animal practice, with her love of animals fueling her motivation to attend Vet Tech School. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from the NVCC Veterinary Technology Program in 1999, she has worked in multiple practices, with her main interests being in Surgery, Dentistry, and Pain Management. She joined the Staples Mill team in October 2016, excited to be a part of a growing AAHA and Fear Free practice.

When Suzanne is not working, she enjoys spending time with her 2 children and her husband, Brian, hiking, snowboarding, running, and anything else outdoors. She shares her home with her 2 dogs, Obi and Radar, and also has a retired Thoroughbred, Billabong (aka Bill), who has been in her family for 20 years.

Licensed Veterinary Technician Amanda Ferrucci has worked in the vet field since 2014, when she changed careers from broadcasting journalism. She has continued her schooling to pursue her ultimate goal to attend veterinary school and earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, with which she hopes to serve the men, women and animals of our armed forces.

She is newly transplanted from Seattle, Washington and enjoys spending time with her husband, 3 dogs; 5 year old German Shepherd; Odie, 2 year old White German Shepherd; Nova, 8 month Lab Mix; Maddie, 2 Cats; Dino and Darci and 3 hedgehogs!

Stephanie has always had a love of animals since she was little. She’s had a variety of different types of animals growing up including rabbits, hedgehogs, ferrets, cats, and dogs. She knew that one day she would work in the veterinary field. Stephanie started working in a small animal practice in Alexandria, VA in 2008. She joined the Staples Mill Family in August 2016!

Stephanie has passed her passion of animals to her son, Jacob. When she’s not at the hospital, you can find them outside hiking and looking for critters or at the baseball field! Stephanie is a certified scuba diver and went to school for American Sign Language.
