Dale City (Woodbridge), VA Veterinarians

woodbridge, va veterinarianStephanie W. Shane, DVM, Owner

Dr. Stephanie Shane remembers spending nearly every day of her childhood in Culpeper, Virginia surrounded by animals. It was that consistent proximity that inspired her devotion to animals - along with the passion she inherited from her father. "He really showed me what a responsibility it was to care for something and to treat them like you would a family member," Dr. Shane says. "Our pets (and every orphan he brought home) were loved and treated with respect; that's what made me want to work with animals every day and help foster that kind of bond between people and the animals they love."

Our veterinarian earned her Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from Virginia Tech and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Feline Practitioners. Dr. Shane's professional interests include preventive medicine, dentistry and pain management.

Opening the animal hospital in Dale City represents the fulfillment of her desire to bring the highest-quality veterinary medicine and exceptional customer service to area pets and their owners, while also upholding a cost-conscious approach to care.

"I love talking with clients about their pets," Dr. Shane says. "Whether it's choosing the right vaccines for their new family member or reviewing options for pain management for their senior pet, I want my clients to walk out of the exam room knowing they made an informed decision. And of course, all the puppy and kitten smooches help!"

Dr. Shane and her husband Michael have two grown daughters, Kayla and Kelsey. Although both have left home, she's kept busy by the family's five pets: a cat named Shady and three dogs, Hannah, Lola and Buddy. Dr. Shane also enjoys yoga, rock climbing, cooking and supporting local high school athletics and several rescue organizations.
